Painting at Pinot's Palette

Friday evening, two girlfriends and I got together for a night filled with painting, bread, cheese, and wine at Pinot's Palette. Pinot's Palette is another version of Painting With A Twist - a place I went with coworkers a few months ago. It's an awesome concept -  you select a date and painting that you want to paint, sign up, bring wine and snacks, and the place provides the canvas, paint, and an instructor to guide you through the painting process.

We chose Van Gogh's Starry Night - seemed like it would be a fun and relatively easy one to paint!

The instructor has an easel set up at the front and paints along with the class:

Each person has an assigned seat. Paint & brushes are set up for each person too.

It's a little easier to paint when you have a glass of wine within arm's reach!

The instructors are really great about taking you through each step (slowly!). First we were instructed to paint the entire canvas blue. Then we moved on to adding a lighter blue diagonal wavy line that would become the mountains in the distance.

We took two breaks throughout the 3-hour class. It was fun to step back and see how your picture was looking.

It's so fun to see how everyone paints the picture slightly differently:

Our finished paintings:

I learned that I love drawing swirls and stars. I also learned that I'm terrible at drawing straight lines and have no sense of perspective! Oh well.

Still, it was so much fun and I'm proud of how my painting turned out!

This was our entire class:

Such a fun girl's night!
