True Food Kitchen

I got the chance to try out a new restaurant yesterday - True Food Kitchen.

True Food

In a word: yum!

TFK has a healthy/organic focus with a chic/trendy vibe. They're big on "super foods" and anything to promote the "anti-inflammatory diet." They use lots of local foods. They have a ton of vegetarian and vegan options (if you're in to that kind of thing), but overall their food is just really good and made with fresh, healthy ingredients. Totally my kind of place!

We started with the Edamame Dumplings. My oh my these were tasty! The order came with 4 dumplings in a yummy light sauce. The dumplings were filled with an edamame puree with a little white truffle oil. Yes, they were as good as they sound!

For my main dish, I ordered the Inside Out Quinoa Burger. It came with a side - options were a kale salad or a sweet potato hash. Our waitress gave me the option of either or a bit of both (yes!! why don't more places offer this!?) - I went for both, of course! The burger wasn't quite what I was expecting but was overall delicious. It was made up of two quinoa patties with tomato, cucumber, onion, avocado, hummus and feta in between. The patties were a little drier than I thought they'd be, but still very good. I tried to get a little bite of everything in each forkful.

The sides were amazing. The kale salad had a light vinaigrette on it and was awesome - I probably could have had a full bowl of it alone! The sweet potato hash was the best though - perfectly cooked sweet potatoes bites with bits of onion.

We finished our meal with the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). Life was pretty much complete at that point. Too good for words. The picture above speaks for itself!

Love TFK. Totally recommend it. Go!
Lunch menu here.

PS: I ended up taking about half of my dish home. It made for excellent leftovers. I put everything together in a bowl (all kind of mixed together at this point), added a dollop of hummus and it was an awesome (second) meal!
