25 & 26 Weeks

Well it happened.
A full week went by and it was so busy that I didn't have time to update!

How far along? 26 Weeks (missed 25!)

Total weight gain: 14.5 pounds. Getting awfully close to the 15 lb mark!

Maternity clothes? Yep. Non-maternity jeans are getting a little tight. I pretty much only wear maternity tops (unless it's something really loose and drape-y). My sweet momma surprised me with new maternity clothes this weekend: white pants, a long grey maxi skirt, a navy work skirt, a black dress and a few tops - I'm feeling much better now about having enough clothes to wear! We also went shopping for maternity swim suits this weekend (in preparation for vacation in a few weeks) and I found two really great options: one tankini and one bikini - yes, that's right - I'm braving it and planning to let the belly hang out! Haha, we'll see how that actually goes when I put it on and have to go out in public.

Stretch marks? Nothing yet though I keep having the same paranoia in the mornings of seeing them....and then realizing it's just sleep marks from my pjs or from the sheets.

Sleep: Okay. Not getting quite enough lately, but it's not the baby's fault. If I do wake up in the middle of the night she kicks around quite a bit and it can be hard to go back to sleep, but really, I've just been going to sleep too late recently.

Best moment(s) this week: There are a whole bunch since it's been t-w-o full weeks! So many good things have been happening lately. I'll try to go chronologically:

Dr. Appointment (Fetal Care Center, not my regular OB): we went in two Friday's ago for a sonogram and the doc discovered that my placenta has moved!! Woohoo!! It's completely out of the way and I have the green light to exercise again. I'm so excited! They were pleased with the fact that it moved and said that we don't have to go back to that doctor again. It totally felt like we were graduating from that office. The only sad part is that we probably won't get another sonogram until the very end of my pregnancy since I'm now considered "low-risk." It's a bummer but I'm happy everything is looking so good that they don't need to check  up on us as often! The baby was looking great too and was measuring a pound and a half at that appointment.

Mid-week last week our best friends had their sweet baby girl: Alden Marie! She is the most precious thing ever and we were just thrilled to get to visit them in the hospital the day she was born. It's incredible how tiny newborns are!

We also got to visit them following evening and celebrate David's 30th birthday (Alden's birth-day was the day before his!). It was quite an impressive birthday party put together in a hospital room, and all coordinated by his sweet parents who were visiting from California. We all shared a delicious take-out dinner from Max's (short rib sliders, fried chicken, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens & broccolini), plenty of ice cold champagne (for everyone except for me), and slices of decadent salted caramel cake from Society Bakery. It was an amazing party getting to celebrate a milestone birthday and the birth of their new baby. I'm just thrilled for our sweet friends!

The celebrating continued this past weekend & we got to attend our nephew's first birthday! It was Ninja Turtle themed and was totally adorable. It's so hard to believe that he's already a year old.

Miss Anything? Cold-cuts! I'm not sure if it's because I can't have them, but man a good sandwich just sounds delicious.

Movement: So much! This past doctor's appointment my OB said to start doing"kick counts" - basically taking note of how much the baby is moving during her most active time of day (in the evenings for me). She should be moving 8-10 times in a one hour period. I can usually feel that much movement in the first 5-6 minutes!

Cravings: The past two weeks it's been lots of fresh fruit (apples, peaches, and raspberries), dumplings and california rolls, and smoothies. Not all at the same time, I promise!

Symptoms: My foot swelling has been down - totally thankful for that! I'm not sure why but I'm rolling with it. I still get out of breath easily but don't think that's going to change any time soon. It's getting harder to bend over to pick stuff up or put on shoes.

Mood: Great great great. Life is good right now! I'm soaking up every moment of the second trimester - it's just been really great so far.

Looking forward to: So many things! We have our first "Prepared Childbirth" class tonight. I'm pretty excited about it. It's 3 consecutive Monday evenings and will include everything from breathing techniques, to going over the actual birth process, and even a hospital tour. This whole baby thing is getting real! Besides that, I have my first prenatal massage on Wednesday (ahh can't wait!), we'll get to see Alden again this Friday (and hopefully before that too), and then this weekend Taylor and I are planning to do a little vacation shopping.
