28-29-30-31 Weeks

How far along? 31 Weeks! The third trimester started at 28 weeks and the past month has totally zoomed by!

Total weight gain: At last weigh in a few days ago, 16.6 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Pretty much exclusively. I brought a pair of non-maternity shorts with me to Hawaii (because allll my old beach cover-ups definitely didn't cover up my bump, ha!) and had to wear them unbuttoned, unzipped, and folded over at the waistband - but it worked for going to and from the pool!

Best moment(s) this week: Oh boy. Let me try to summarize the past 4 weeks. It's been a whirlwind for us over the past month but so many good things have been going on.

Week 28: This was so long ago! We had another prenatal appointment, another childbirth class, another prenatal massage (love!), and a handful of yummy meals (like these quinoa pancakes).

We also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary! I came home to 6 dozen pink roses - they were absolutely stunning!

Taylor also surprised me with breakfast plans one morning - he discovered that a {delicious} bakery in Dallas has a breakfast Toast Menu. Yes, that's right, a full menu dedicated to toast. Apparently artisan toast places are becoming a thing now - who knew? Anyway, toast is just about my #1 favorite food, so it was such a fun surprise, super thoughtful, and just downright yummy.

I got the Cinnamon Sugar Bread (topped with butter, cinnamon & sugar). Taylor got the Rye with Smoked Salmon, topped with cucumber, dill, and cream cheese.

Saturday night we tried a new restaurant, FT33, for our anniversary dinner. This place was so cool! They don't just serve meals here, they create these amazing looking dishes that look like works of art. And they're big on super fresh, in-season produce, and especially anything local.

We started with their house charcuterie board - I couldn't even tell you what everything was now, but it was all very yummy:

Ricotta gnocchi (with local fennel, onions, carrots, house cultured butter) for me:

Dry aged duck (with stone fruits, creamer peas, and chanterelles) for Taylor:

Vegetable composition for us to share:

Sunday we went to a Pepperdine Alumni event at Cowboys Stadium:

Week 29: This week was blissfully spent in Kauai with Taylor's family. I plan to write up a full post soon - it was such a wonderful week filled with beach time, pool time, a hike, snorkeling, and many delicious meals and treats. We ended the week by closing on our new townhouse on the day we flew back to Dallas from Hawaii - it was quite a whirlwind!

Week 30-31: We had our maternity pictures taken by the fabulous Erin Woosley of EE Photography. I've had my eye on this photographer for the past few years and was just dying to have a session done with her. We drove out to Ft. Worth and spent over 2 hours chatting and taking pictures with her, and I cannot wait to see how they turned out! She's a doll and such a sweet person and made it so easy to be comfortable around her. She just had her second (adorable) baby 2 months earlier so we had a lot to chat about!

We spent a good portion of the week packing and the moving over the 4th of July weekend. Thanks to lots and lots of help from family and friends, the move went incredibly smoothly. Since then we've been in the land of unpacking and organizing.

We also had another prenatal appointment (now that I'm in my third trimester I have appointments every two weeks instead of monthly). Baby girl was doing okay (heartbeat was good and strong) and I was doing just fine. The one thing they noticed was that she was measuring a little small (my belly was just barely 29 inches and it should be around 30-31) so they're going to do a sonogram at our next appointment to take more accurate measurements of her. Fine with me, I love an extra sonogram!

Miss Anything? Honestly? Not really. I'm feeling good about being pregnant and feeling like with only 9 weeks to go I can totally handle all the funky symptoms and pregnancy food restrictions.

Movement: All over the place. In fact, it's kind of crazy just how much you can see baby girl move. She's most active at night, but will pop a limb out here and there just about any time I stop moving. Apparently she still has lots of room because she wiggles around on all sides of my belly and the doctor said as she gets bigger over the next few week she'll settle into one position and not flip flop all over the place.

Cravings: Fresh summer fruit. Can't get enough! I've been eating lots of greek yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, and toast. Trying to make sure I get enough protein so definitely indulging in salmon and steak here and there. Trying to limit my processed sugar intake and honestly feeling really good because of it (though I will say this totally went out the window when we were in Hawaii!).

Symptoms: Oh the foot swelling. The good news is that it's back under control. The bad news is that for a good week, I wondered if I would ever see my ankle bones again! When we were packing the condo and painting the new townhouse, my feet were just ginormous every day. I could hardly get the swelling down. However, the week before in Hawaii, they hardly swelled at all (which I was totally taking a sign that we just needed to go ahead and go back on vacation, ha!). This week (as in yesterday and today), I've been trying to be super diligent about keeping my feet up on a box under my desk, and so far the swelling has 100% stayed down. After analyzing what I was doing every day, I really think the main culprit was sitting at my desk with my feet straight down for so many hours on end - more so than being on my feat a ton while we were painting. When we were in Hawaii I spent a ton of time with my feet up, so that's what I'm trying to do now!

Mood: All good! Though I feel like I've been extra weepy lately. It's kind of funny.

Looking forward to: Spending time getting our house unpacked, working on the nursery, and another prenatal massage this week on Thursday. Oh and we're heading down to the Austin area this weekend for a family reunion (on Taylor's mom's side). Should be a fun time to see some extended family - and there just happens to be a fabulous outlet mall nearby where we're hoping we might be able to snag a few things for the nursery. Fingers crossed that we have success and get a good deal or two!

Baby girl is measuring 15.2-16.7 inches & 2.5-3.8 lbs.
She's the size of a pineapple this week (@ 31 weeks)!
