37 Weeks

How far along? 37 Weeks! Full-term - or at least it used to be. The definition of "full term" recently changed to 39 weeks (read more here). In any case, we're getting super close to the end!

Labor signs: I felt some major Braxton Hicks contractions last Tuesday night. I woke up (per the norm) in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and found myself pacing a little trying to get the crampy feeling to ease up. They did stop eventually and I was able to go back to sleep. Nothing the rest of the week but this morning I've been feeling them a little bit again.

The good news is: my hospital bag is finally packed!! Man oh man it took me way longer to get that done than I would have every expected. I mean seriously, I've been reading posts about what to pack for months now so it seems crazy that I waited until 37 weeks to turn my list into an actual packed bag.

Total weight gain: Hovering right under the 20lb mark. This birthday weekend has been one full of sweet indulgences (a gift of a decadent slice of chocolate-peanut-butter cake from two of my sweet reps on Thursday at work, dinner out Friday with my lovie that included a drool-worthy dessert sampler, a birthday treat of vanilla chocolate chip cookie pops yesterday at our fav Steel City Pops, and the list keeps going!) so I'm expecting that number to creep up next week.

Maternity clothes? Oh yea.

Best moment this week: It was a great week...and an even better long weekend! Friday I took the day off and had the best time running baby-related errands all day. I got a ton done and it felt great to get so much checked off my to-do list! I did end up at Buy Buy Baby twice (whoops) and went to not just one but two fun baby boutique shops (and may have ended up with a few cute bows that were totally necessary).

Friday evening Taylor and I got dressed up and went to a birthday dinner at one of our favorite places: Abacus. It's Restaurant Week in Dallas so there was a set 3-course menu with options for each course.

We started with Lobster "Shooters" (not technically part of the RW menu but so worth it) - they are so good! Next I had the Purple Potato Gnocchi with baby artichokes & crispy kale. Taylor had the Smoked Hamachi Crudo with summer melon & crispy serrano. Yum! For mains I ordered the Grilled Flat Iron with sweet potato gratin & swiss chard (a-maz-ing), and Taylor had the Roated Maple Leaf Duck Breast with grits & habanero-peach butter (also delish!).

For dessert we shared a sampler plate of sweets:
-Blackberry upside down cake with orange marmalade and sage whipped cream
-Salted caramel tiramisu with hazelnut biscotti
-Dark chocolate-peanut butter tart

It was a totally indulgent, delicious meal and was such a fun night out!

Restaurant Week 2014

Saturday we mostly ran errands and got things done around the house. We did stop for a fun tapas lunch at Cafe Madrid. We got a few things up on the walls in the nursery and I washed more baby clothes. We also {finally!} got the last moving boxes out of our bedroom! Okay we still have two small boxes as temporary nightstands, but other than that everything is out. This was a huge goal for us before baby girl arrives because 1. we get the feeling we'll be spending a lot of time in our bedroom over the next month or two so we wanted it to feel settled and free of moving clutter. And 2. because the glider we ordered is supposed to arrive at the beginning of September and we needed a spot for it! We still need to find & purchase an ottoman (it's on the list!). We have a small table to go near the glider and I just need to find a way to organize a little basket of nursing supplies to keep close by.

Sunday started with a leisurely pancake breakfast & prezzies from Taylor and ended with a delicious family meal at Taylor's parents house, complete with a to-die-for Italian Cream Cake.

The birthday celebration continued into Monday when our sweet friends Hayden & David invited us over for dessert & champagne. Kate Wieser truffles & macaroons make the best birthday treats!

Miss Anything? Not having my belly sit on my lap, ha! And sleeping through the night.

Movement: So very much!

Cravings: Nothing in particular this week.

Symptoms: My foot swelling is still around but not as bad. Also needing to go to the bathroom all the time, which I think has been worse lately since the baby had dropped down a little bit.

Mood/Sleep: Overall still good. I am starting to feel anxious about having the baby, but I don't feel overly crazed about waiting for her to arrive. I feel pretty at peace about the fact that she could either be here tomorrow or in up to 3.5 weeks. People all around me keep asking if I'm totally over being pregnant and the answer is not yet. I'm trying to just take it one day at a time - the longer she cooks the better and the more we can get done, ha! That said, I am also getting really excited to meet our sweet girl!

Looking forward to: So many fun things going on in the next few weeks! We're closing on our condo Thursday (woohoo!), and then planning to go to party at Kate Weiser Chocolates to celebrate their one-year anniversary.

Baby Appointment Update: Nothing super exciting to report, but baby girl is doing great. She was measuring right around 37 weeks (right on track). The doctor thought she had dropped a little further than last week, but nothing else had progressed. She's still cooking!

Baby girl is the size of a Winter Melon this week
(what the heck is a winter melon, am I right?!)
Measuring 18.9-20.9 inches & weighing 6.2-9.2 lbs.
