{BabyT} Nursery Inspiration

BabyT will be taking over the small nursery that is attached to our bedroom. Arden is still in it right now, but hopefully in a few weeks she'll be moved into her new bedroom (which was our guest bedroom up until recently!). I've been pinning ideas for the past few months and think I've at least narrowed it down to a cohesive look/theme.

Since the nursery is pretty tiny, there aren't too many ways we can decorate it - which is probably a good thing! But we are planning to change a few things to make it more of a boy room. Right now the walls are technically white but have a bit of a pink hue to them...that'll be the first thing to change. We are planning to paint the walls a light grey (same color as Arden's room downstairs). Last time we had a sweet friend paint a gorgeous mural of birch trees on one wall - we're hoping to find a way to keep the trees and not paint over them. Our plan is to paint 3 out of the 4 walls and see if that makes the white look less pink - if it works then we can keep the trees! Otherwise we'll have to paint over them and I SO do not want to!

Arden's crib (Ikea FTW!) + dresser are  staying in the room because they fit exaaactly right (we got them both specifically to fit into the small room). She'll have a new crib (given by a super sweet friend!) and dresser (which we're in the process of refinishing) downstairs. We're leaning towards Burt's Bees bedding - Arden has a crib sheet + changing pad cover from them and we've loved them. They're super soft, have cute patterns, and have held up really well in the wash. Since the room is so small, the bedding is actually a big part of the decor in the nursery.

I've been toying around with the idea of a "Where The Wild Things Are" theme and may try to incorporate a few little accents into the room like a print or a pillow. Going clockwise, here are the ones from the moodboard above: One-Two-Three. I like the big wood piece a lot, but I think we're on more of a print-and-frame-ourselves kind of budget so we'll have to see. There are 3 good spots for prints, so I'm thinking maybe one elephant (I LOVE this little guy), one scripture (probably above the changing table b/c we'll see it the most) and then one WTWTA print. Arden's room currently has the fingerprint tree from my baby shower, a gorgeous hand-painted giraffe picture that Taylor had done by someone he works with, and then a giant frame with all her bows. Again, it's almost kind of nice to be limited on how much we can decorate!

We're going to keep the white picture-book ledges on one wall, but we'll probably switch out the books. I love displaying pretty hardcover picture books - Arden hasn't been quite at the age to read some of them just yet, so they've been good decorations for now! I love the look of the felt ball garland like in the picture above - I usually hate decor things that are dust catcher decorations, but I'm thinking the garland might be a good way to add some blue/grey on top of the white shelves.

I'm loving elephants as an animal theme for babyT! Pottery Barn has an especially cute elephant (bottom left picture). JellyCat (favorite!) also has a bunch of adorable little friends.

We will probably need to get some kind of new diaper caddy/storage bin to go near the changing pad for diapers - the one we got for Arden fits perfectly in the space but we're trying to decide if we need to move it downstairs (plus it has pink stars on it, so ya know).

Lastly, this time around I really want to try to come up with some kind of mobile. Taylor and I talked about a mobile for months with Arden, but never ended up buying one or making one. I love the look of the one above (on Etsy here) but it's a bit out of our price range. I think in the end we'll probably end up making one. This definitely needs a bit more research!
