Turner's 2nd Birthday: Construction Party!

Our TurnerBear turned two (what the what!!!) & we celebrated with a construction truck-themed birthday party! The party was at an imagination play place called PlayQ Studio & it was the perfect location for this age.

A few months out when I started planning this party, my main goal was to keep it pretty simple. I usually tend to pinterest and craft the heck out of parties like this one (and really enjoy doing so!), but I knew that with being pregnant, I needed to keep it as easy as possible.

I did use pinterest to come up with some decorating ideas, but overall kept it pretty simple!

Construction hats:

Table decor!
Simple cones were perfect!

Cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes with cute little toppers:

Somehow I managed to totally forget that I had intended to put a sheet of stickers in each party bag (hello pregnancy brain!) - Gigi helped me add them to each bag a few minutes before the party started!

The kiddos had a blast playing in their-sized little shops - this place had a movie theater, a grocery store, a little bakery, a hair salon, and a bunch of other little storefronts.

We love our uncles & aunts!

Love these ladies & their littles! We took a picture like this one at GQ's 1st birthday party and now try to get one every time we're together at another birthday party! GQ is almost 4 now!

This is literally one of the only pictures we got that had a lot of the decorations in it. Again, tried to keep things simple but found a cute banner at Target, made a few signs like "Dig In!" for the food & "Fuel Station" for the drinks. I was really happy with how it turned out!

I kept the menu really simple:
Nuggets & fruit from Chick-fil-a
Cheese, salami, and cracker tray
Options of water or milk for the kiddos (and water bottles for adults)
Cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes!

A little bit of a #momfail with the ginormous candle and tiny buntini.
Got the candle on a trip to Target and totally didn't even think about how small the cupcakes were going to be! Whoops.

This kid really liked his cupcake!

PlayQ Studio even had bags of popcorn for each kiddo on their way out - along with our goodie bags!

Here's a bit of behind the scenes of the prep leading up to the party (most party decor is linked at the end of this post).

I found these super cute invitations on Etsy and they were absolutely perfect! The sweet shop owner worked with me to get the wording just right. She also designed the cutest coordinating thank you note!

I had the same shop customize a little tag for the bags of chocolate coins for party bags - aka the "day's wages" and she totally nailed my vision!!

I decided on black backing & orange envelops to make the invites a little extra special:

I split the prep part into separate little projects and so one day worked on the invites, one day on the coin bags, etc. In generally I really love little crafts like this so it was really fun and not stressful.

Saw this idea on pinterest and it was SO easy! Literally stuffed bags with chocolate coins and then stapled the tags on the bags:

I also asked the same Etsy shop for custom tags for the construction hats. Again, super easy: I had the hole punch and then just used double-sided tape to attach the tags to the hats:

Prepping goodie bags is one of my favorite parts of party prep (honestly I've loved it since I was a kid when my mom would let me help with the process!).
I found these perfect bags on amazon (that even included a sticker to close them) & decided to fill with: chocolate coins, a construction truck and a sheet of stickers. Basically all the stuff that Turner would love to find in a party bag!
We also had little slap bracelets on the table that I kind of figured were part of the bag (but they were a great distraction when the kiddos were seated and waiting for their food).

Last but not least, the matching thank you notes:

Happy 2nd birthday my sweet little love!
