What a week!

I couldn't be more thankful for a weekend right now. It's been one of those crazy, stressful, busy weeks that that make you just sooo happy when Saturday rolls around. Tuesday after work we had a last-happy-hour-celebration at Uncle Julios for Brittney, a co-worker and good friend, who is moving on to a new job at Univision next week. We took over the gorgeous outdoor patio and had a fun (but late) evening of chatting and reminiscing about Brittney's time at Loomis. It was very bittersweet for me, I'm going to miss her!

Thursday night was Monte Carlo Night - an annual advertising (fundraiser) event sponsored by the DREAM Fund and The Dallas Ad League. The Dream Fund is a cool organization that helps people in the local advertising industry/community who have been hit with financial difficulties/life-changing events. The Dallas Ad League is a foundation that does everything from throw events for the ad community to helping people find jobs. Together, they definitely know how to host a party! Monte Carlo Night was at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field airport. They had Blackjack tables set up, Craps, Roulette and Texas Hold 'Em. When you come in you get a voucher for $500 "dollars" and you can play anything you want. There's an auction at the end where you can spend the "money" you won playing games. Besides that, there are "real money" silent and live auctions with really awesome stuff to bid on - this is where they actually do the fundraising part since all the gifts are donated (they even auctioned off a puppy!). A ton of people come out for this event (both from the agency side and the station side); it's an awesome way to network and meet people in the industry from other companies.

Friday night we watched the Yankees/Rangers game at home after work...and can you say conflicted??? Man, I had no idea who to root for. I really wanted to take a picture of me wearing my Yankees shirt & Taylor wearing a Rangers shirt...but when I went to dig out my shirt, I discovered that it had been packed away into our storage unit. Yes, I packed the Yankee shirt but managed to keep my Rangers shirt readily available - I'm a terrible fan. Oh well, I figure it was probably better for my safety not to wear my Yankees shirt this week anyway. The game was pretty bad. I was trying to be neutral, but Taylor and his dad are very vocal Rangers fans, and I couldn't help but cheer when the Yankees did well. While Yankee pride seems to be in my blood, I do kind of wish that the Rangers could just win this thing and go on to the World Series!

So this morning we checked two things off my Coppell to-do list: Coppell Deli for a "Stubbs" breakfast sandwich and the Coppell Farmers Market. Coppell Deli is exactly what it sounds like...a cute local deli in Coppell. It was one of the first places Taylor took me to when I visited Texas before we were engaged. They have awesome burgers, and I've heard rave reviews about their breakfast menu. I love what a local place it is...we walked in and there were couples settled down reading the morning paper, families eating breakfast, and groups of guys chatting about the baseball game last night. The breakfast sandwich was delicious: crispy bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, and gooey cheese on toast. YUM. It was the closest thing I've had in Texas to the New York style "egg n bacon on a roll" that I love so much.

The Farmers Market was right next to Coppell Deli. There were about 15 tents set up, each with different kids of local produce. We saw lots of fresh fruit and veggies, pumpkins, jams & spreads, and meats and cheeses. There was also a tent with delicious looking breads and pastries that definitely caught my eye. We couldn't walk away without trying something, so we split a pain au chocolate (yes, that would be our second breakfast) and it was phenomenal.

Alright weekend, you're looking good so far. What's next???
