Katy Trail 5k

Yesterday we ran the Katy Trail 5k! Our time wasn't quite as fast as when we did the Turkey Trot last November, but we did run the entire time (which was my personal goal) so I think we did great! We finished the 3.1 mile race in 00:35:45.

The race started and ended in Reverchon Park. There were 3563 runners - believe it or not, this is a small number! Comparably, the Turkey Trot usually has somewhere between 40,000-60,000 runners!

This is what the crowd looked like, right before the race started. People everywhere!

Taylor was a rockstar and kept me motivated and running the whole way through the race! We ran down a few major streets in Uptown, came up to the West Village, and then finished the race running down the Katy Trail back to Reverchon Park.

When we crossed the finish line, we were very grateful for the long tables full of cold cups of water! The crowd funneled back into Reverchon Park where there were dozens of food and drink booths set up. The Katy Trail is a quintessential part of Uptown, and so this race is a big deal for the area. As a result, restaurants and bars from all over Uptown come and set up booths and hand out food and drinks to all the runners after the race. Most of the food is bite-sized portions, but there were probably about 25-30 different options so definitely got enough to eat! We got to try mini sandwiches from Max's Wine Dive, mini wraps from Snappy Salads and Greenz, some quinoa salad from Start, chips & queso from Chuys, and even cookies from Tiffs Treats! It was delicious.

I'm so glad we got to participate in this race - we're regular runners on the Katy Trail, so it was a lot of fun to be on our home turf!

This picture was clearly pre-race....we looked much more tired and sweaty afterwards!! :)

5K
Summary

Total Finishers: 3563
Men: 1642 (00:29:00 avg)
Women: 1921 (00:34:00 avg)
