14 Weeks

Bump Updates | Joie de Vivre

How far along? 14 weeks - officially in the second trimester!

Total weight gain: +2 lbs. as of this morning. I actually lost a few pounds over the first trimester - eating only french fries for lunch and pickles for snacks will do that to ya! As my appetite returned I got back to my original weight.

Maternity clothes? Not yet. At least not on a regular basis! My white top in the picture is maternity, but we got it so that I could take pictures in it each week. It's super soft & stretchy and was made to be able to be worn for all 40 weeks. I have a handful of maternity tops that I have worn, but not out of need yet, just because they're so cute! Maternity tops are so nice and long - I wish regular tops came in long lengths (#tallgirlproblems). I'm still in my regular jeans, though I'm aiming to order a pair (or two) of maternity jeans soon. I will say, I do absolutely feel like my belly is pouching out now. I notice it in any tight shirt.
It's the I-just-ate-a-cheeseburger look. Oh well.

Sleep: Sleep was rough this past week. It was a perfect storm of late after-work events + Taylor working late a few nights and it set us on a pretty bad track for sleep. Up until now we'd been pretty good on getting 8-9 hours and I miss it. Sleep is still pretty comfortable though. The only thing I've noticed is that I start to hurt if I lie on my back for too long. I've always been a side sleeper so I've been comfy for the most part, but I occasionally wake up on my back and it hurts. A friend of mine at work let me borrow her Snoogle and I think it'll be awesome in a few more weeks.

Best moment this week: We got to see our little jellybean on Tuesday at our 12-week appointment. Yes, the appointment was supposed to be two weeks earlier but was cancelled and rescheduled because of the Snowmageddon that hit Dallas.  Baby girl was doing great and measuring exactly where she should be. Oh and second favorite thing: we registered last weekend! We had so much fun!

Worst Moment this week: Nothing terribly bad, but when we saw our doctor on Tuesday, we asked her about traveling at 33 weeks and she flat out said no. The office has a no-traveling-after-32-weeks policy and she was pretty adamant about following it. We had wanted to go to California for a friend's wedding reception and I'm just so bummed that she advised against it. It's frustrating because I'll be 32 weeks for the first part of the trip and 33 weeks for the second part. We'll see what happens.

Miss Anything? Being able to drink lots of water (easily)! It sounds so silly, but I just can't make myself drink very much water lately. There's something about feeling so full and waterlogged that just makes me feel sick. I used to easily drink 8-10 glasses a day and try so hard to stay hydrated and now it's a battle. I don't love sweet drinks or flavored water so I've just been trying to eat fruit & veggies and drink what water I can stomach. I did get a new cute pink water bottle this morning - I'm hoping that carrying it around with me will help me up my water intake.

Cravings: As of last night, Cocoa Puffs. Terrible isn't it? I saw a picture of them somewhere and absolutely needed some. Right then. BUT, I resisted the temptation of asking Taylor to go to the store at 8pm and instead got some this morning at Target. Other than that, cravings come and go. Pickles are delicious, but I've always loved them. Greek yogurt has been my go-to snack at work lately.

Symptoms: Back pain if I'm on my back for too long. Easily tired. But that's it for this week!

Looking forward to: Spending more time thinking about and researching decor ideas for the nursery. We're in a weird limbo right now because we're planning to move in a few months and so don't even know what the future nursery space will look like but it's not stopping us from researching furniture and other decor. Right now the only thing we're pretty settled on is that the color palate will be blush and grey with gold accents.

Baby is the size of lemon this week!
3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces.
