Gender Reveal

We found out that we were having a little girl pretty early (at about 10-11 weeks) thanks to the Verifi genetic {blood} test we had done. Find out so early is kind of a new thing - the test has been around for a little while but doctors are just starting to offer it for non "at risk" patients. Up until recently, it was totally normal to have to wait until around 20 weeks for a sonographer to be able determine the gender based on visible body parts.

It was fun being able to find out so early, but it definitely made the idea of a gender reveal party seem a little pointless since we hadn't really even told very many people I was pregnant yet at that point!

Nevertheless, we still wanted to surprise our parents & siblings some way with the news so we decided to make dessert after a family dinner our own little gender reveal celebration.

I ordered a cake from Society Bakery {pink champagne cake with butter cream frosting - uhm yum!} with pink frosting on the inside and both colors of frosting on the outside. The bakery was totally used to gender reveal cakes & made it super easy to order!

We brought the cake with us to Cane Rosso where we were meeting everyone for a pizza dinner and it took all of my willpower to wait until we were done eating to have the moms cut into the cake!! It was such a fun surprise to share!

It's a girl!!

The day we found out we were having a girl I brought home these macaroons for me & Taylor:

Our best buds surprised us with a girl gift after we found out:
