{BabyT} Bumpdate: 29 Weeks

29 Weeks

The weeks are officially flying by! The start of the third trimester seemed like a huge milestone, but now nearing the 30-week mark seems like an even bigger deal.

It's been a busy, but very productive week. I'm still really glad I put together my "to-do" list for the next few months. We started painting this weekend and totally finished Arden's bedroom downstairs!

It started Friday after work: we went to Home Depot and perused paint swatches, knowing we wanted something in the grey family. After a few minute we picked up a color called Solemn Silence - pretty funny for a nursery/bedroom color, right? Made us chuckle. Anyway, we liked it enough that we only got a sample of that one color. Friday night we tested out the color and Saturday morning (in the daylight) we confirmed that it was perfect.

Saturday was a long day.

Sometime in the future I actually want to paint a room when I'm NOT pregnant. Sigh.

Taylor and I were pretty efficient (if I do say so myself). First thing in the morning Taylor moved furniture into the middle of the room and put down drop cloths while I went out and did our weekly grocery shopping. He also patched & sanded a few holes that were left by the previous owners. Somehow he managed to keep Arden totally entertained while he got everything set up! Then he ran to Home Depot for the paint while I played with Arden & tapped around the baseboards, doors, etc. We got Arden down for her nap and then the painting commenced!

We were making such good progress that about halfway through, I decided we need to paint her bathroom as well.

Haha yeaaa, that probably falls into the "nesting" category.

Taylor was a good sport & after just a few minutes agreed to go along with me. The bathroom was a dark brown color that I really didn't like, and I was totally fine with painting it the same grey as the bedroom, and we already had all the paint and tools out, so it just made sense to me to get it all done at the same time.

Side note: bathroom are the worst to paint. I vaguely remembered that from the last 2 times we painted bathrooms (once in our Cole condo & once in our master bath in this house)....but not enough to stop me from wanting to paint this one.

Bathrooms are still the worst room to paint.

Small space. Awkward fixtures you can't move (hello sink + toilet). A zillion edges to tape around (I'm still looking at you, sink + toilet). Tiny areas to paint. You get the picture.

Anyway, my husband is the best for just going along with it.

By the time Arden woke up from her nap, we'd gotten a first coat of paint on just about the entire bedroom and bathroom - success!

Of course painting is a downward spiral & usually makes you aware of other things that need to be done. In our case, we realized we needed to replace 2 towel bars in the bathroom (we didn't want to put the old ones back up over the new paint) so we took a trip to Home Goods

After we put her to bed, we got a second coat finished in the bedroom and decided to call it a night. We were exhausted.

Sunday morning we skipped church so we could finish. We took turns entertaining Arden and painting/cleaning/moving furniture. By the end of naptime, the bedroom paint was dry & the furniture was moved into place (for the most part), and the bathroom was totally done being painted (but still needed to dry).

We still need to refinish the dresser and shuffle the furniture around a bit more, and we realllly need a rug for this side of the room, but overall things are coming along and I'm really happy with how the paint turned out!

Baby Update

BabyT is a wiggler. He's been moving all.the.time!

As of our last appointment he was still breech. I mostly feel him moving on either side of my belly, so I wonder if he's not sideways sometimes too. A few friends recommended trying some exercises to help get him to turn the right direction - there's a lot of info about moving a breech baby on the Spinning Babies site (and yes, that is a real site - definitely more on the hippie side of things but a lot of people say it works!) - I may start doing a few of these soon. My next doc appointment is Monday so I'll have a better idea if he's still facing the wrong direction.

I did find out today that I passed my 1-hour glucose test, woohoo! All my blood-work came back normal too, but apparently my vitamin D levels are still low so I'm supposed to keep taking a supplement. I kind of forgot I had the supplements...whoops. Gotta get better about taking those. And my prenatal vitamins!

Momma Update

Current weight gain is 18.7 lbs. My weight definitely spiked up after we got back from our trip (delayed reaction maybe?), but now seems like it's {hopefully} evening out a bit.

My bell has been feeling super dry lately so I'm using lotion all the time. For the most part I'm still feeling good. My feet swell every few days or so, especially if I've been standing a lot. Usually they go back to normal by the time I wake up in the morning.

In general this pregnancy has felt pretty different than with Arden. It's a little hard to describe, but I feel more tired, and just a little more sore. Everyone keeps telling me it's because this time I'm running around after a toddler while pregnant, and I know that's definitely part of it, but my body just feels a little different this time around. I think I was possibly in a bit better shape the first time, and I bet tone muscles helped avoid soreness a little - babyT has just felt kind of heavy for the past few months. I also think that pre-Arden I was able to go on walks more regularly, and that probably helped keep me active. This time around I haven't been able to go on walks on a regular basis, and even when I do get to, it just about always involves pushing a stroller, stopping frequently, and then ending at the playground (where I just stand around so it doesn't count!). I think I need to work on this a little for the next 11 weeks.

I have been keeping up with my prenatal pilates though! Just about every day I get up and do at least 10-15 minutes & that's been helping me feel a little more stretched and less creaky. The "prenatal" sessions though tend to be a little less strenuous, so I wonder sometimes if I should be moving more.

I'm planning to sign up for a drop-in prenatal yoga class for next week. I'm hoping that between that and the two chiropractic appointments I have set up that I'll be able to work out some of the soreness in my belly and back.
