{BabyT} Bumpdate: Weeks 22-27 - Second Trimester Wrap-Up
How far along?
27 weeks!
Tomorrow is 28 weeks and officially the start of the 3rd trimester - crazy!!!
Total weight gain?
13.5 lbs so far
The breakdown:
2.1 lbs from first trimester (2.7 with AEW)
11.4 lbs in second trimester (14.4 with AEW)
Overall it seems like I came in at a little under a pound a week during my second trimester. We just got back from vacation (post on that soon!) so I actually had no idea where I'd end up since we basically ate our way through the UK for the past 10 days. It was combined with LOTS of walking though, so I guess things evened out pretty well in the end.
My goal is still to be at (or under) the same amount I gained with Arden (which was around 25-30 lbs total). I believe in eating a healthy, balanced diet - even during pregnancy....though that certainly didn't stop me from indulging in plenty of scones, shortbread, and croissants during our trip!
Maternity clothes?
Yea, this is probably a silly question going forward. I suppose there are a handful of non-maternity things I still fit into, but in general I'm only wearing maternity clothes now. I did invest in an amazing back support/belly band thing to use on our trip and it was awesome and so worth the splurge. It lifts my belly and supports my back and makes walking around so much better!
Stretch marks?
Nothing visible yet. I suspect it'll be like last time where I mostly notice everything post-pregnancy. I'm trying to be diligent about putting on lotion twice a day. The past few weeks I've noticed my belly feeling a little dry and that's a major red flag in my mind so it makes me super aware that I need to keep my skin hydrated. Hydrated = supple = no stretch marks....right!? A girl can hope.
Sleep?
Still fabu. I'm juuuust starting to want a pillow or an edge of our blanket tucked under my belly for a little extra support. From last pregnancy I remember that I got just about to this point before really needing any additional support to sleep comfortably. Currently the only issue is jet lag! We're only 2 days back from our trip and Taylor and I both still wake up around 1-2am wide awake. Last Europe trip it took us almost a full week to readjust, so I'm just trying to make myself be patient until next week and hopefully we'll be back on a regular schedule.
Movement?
Tons and tons. A lot at night and a lot during the day too! He's on the move. And you can definitely even see it if you're just looking at my belly.
Cravings/Symptoms/Mood?
No cravings really since early on.
Only symptom really is that my belly button is popped out thanks to an umbilical hernia after my pregnancy with Arden. I knew it was there after her, but it's really not very visible when I'm not pregnant. Pregnant however, it's pushed out by my belly. Fun times.
Best/Worst moment this week?
UK trip! We got to spend 10 wonderful-amazing-relaxing-fun days with our sweet, sweet friends! Post coming soon!
Looking oh-so-pregnant at our afternoon Tea in London:
Random Thoughts?
Had a doc appointment yesterday & took my glucose test. Yuck. Here's to hoping I passed (like I did with Arden) so I don't have to do that again! Baby is still breech but HB was good and everything else was normal. They also took blood to test iron & vitamin D levels.
Oh appointments now start being every two weeks - what the what? Already???
Back-tracking a little: before our trip I went in for a special sonogram - they were trying to assess the "placental lake" situation I mentioned a few weeks ago. I had a repeat sono done after that post & a different sonographer thought that it wasn't a lake at all but a cyst instead so my doctor just referred me to a fetal care center where they have really good sonography equipment & doctors. That doctor confirmed that it was just a lake, and nothing to worry about. All good!
The fun part was getting really great pictures of BabyT. Below we have a side profile....top right is a foot.
Oh yea, baby boy Williams has a new nickname: babyT.
Have we mentioned the "T" thing?
Taylor and his dad share the same initials...TLW...and middle name (Lee). We knew we wanted our first boy to share them both too. We're still undecided on a "T" first name, but we know the rest, so there you go: babyT.
